Our story began in the research labs of the University of Freiburg, driven by a singular challenge: making the invisible visible. By unlocking the potential of Protein Interaction Coupling Technology—PICO for short—we realized we could bridge the gap between traditional biochemistry and digital precision. We knew this technology belonged in the hands of scientists worldwide.
- 2021 | The Foundation: We officially launched as Actome GmbH to commercialize our digital proteomics platform.
- 2022 | Global Partnership: We joined forces with QIAGEN to bring our first validated digital assay kits to the global market.
- 2024 | Platform Expansion: We adapted the PICO assay for a wider range of dPCR systems and launched our premium, hands-off Custom Antibody Labeling Service.
- 2025 | The EV Breakthrough: We expanded the physical limits of our technology into the field of liquid biopsy, delivering a game-changing, size-independent solution for Extracellular Vesicle (EV) quantification.
2026: PICO BioScience
Today, we are officially PICO BioScience. Our new name reflects our ultimate mission: empowering researchers with robust, quantitative, and reference-free digital tools to map the hidden proteome.
